Design
The exterior and interior design of the car have sparked the most controversy. The new, subtle design of the front bumper, while making the car visually distinct from the previous generation and enhancing performance, has divided opinions. However, some are willing to make the trade-off for performance over design, believing that these changes enhance the overall driving experience, others feel Porsche could have made it more visually appealing.
Minor changes to the exhaust placement bring the two exhausts closer together, making the car louder and more aggressive. Porsche has also integrated all of the light functions into the standard LED Matrix design headlights of the 911, with its characteristic four-point design. This allows for larger air intakes in the front fascia, as the lights previously mounted in this area are now integrated into the headlights.
The interior has also seen mixed reactions. Many feel that certain changes, such as the digital gauge replacing the classic physical gauge and the placement of the start-up button, are more of a downgrade than an upgrade compared to the previous generation model and seem unnecessary. Despite the mixed opinions, these design choices should not significantly impact the car's demand.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The engine performance of the new model has been mostly praised. It now features a 3.6-liter 6-cylinder Boxer engine, accompanied by a T-Hybrid powertrain that generates up to 54 horsepower and 110 lb-ft of torque. The new Boxer engine produces 420 lb-ft of torque and 357 kW (478 horsepower) on its own, with an overall system power of 449 lb-ft and 398 kW (532 horsepower). This represents a 45 kW (59 hp) power boost over the previous 911 Carrera GTS variants.
With the help of the small electric motor, which is too tiny to have a full EV mode, it eliminates any turbo-lag that is usually prevalent in turbocharged cars and was also present in the previous generation version. Although the car performs better overall despite the added weight due to the electric motor, some people are unable to accept the hybrid engine concept and prefer naturally aspirated, turbocharged, or even supercharged cars. However, I believe that if the new technology doesn’t hurt the overall driving experience, there shouldn’t be a problem with a hybrid engine. In this case, I see it as an improvement compared to the previous generation.
0-60 Times
Porsche states that the 2025 GTS T-Hybrid accelerates to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds instead of 3.2, and that its peak speed increases to 194 Mph and some sources also claim that a time of 2.5 sec to 60 mph might also be possible.
